What Is The Clustering Algorithm Used In SQL Server 2005 (Yukon) Analysis Services?
Answer: The Clustering Algorithm separates a dataset into groups in which the members have similar characteristics and at the same time are dissimilar from members in other groups. These groups of members with similar characteristics are known as clusters in data mining terminology. For Example, a clustering algorithm may discover several groups or clusters from a database of prospects in a town, including a cluster of married men in their 40's to 50's with more than $100,000 annual income and golf club memberships leaving in a particular zipcode. These men have been grouped into a cluster based on the characteristics they share in common - age, income, location, golf club memberships.
